k_d_lang-Hallelujah-Full.mov
Fortunately, that clown Bert Newton's faulty commentary has been wiped of this viewing of k d Lang's brilliant performance at Sunday night's Logie Awards....she is superb and I'm not too proud to admit that every time I watch her perform Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", she brings tears to my eyes and leaves me in awe of her performance and amazing talent. Cohen has said that Lang's version is his favourite of all versions of his song...and I can understand why. As Tony Bennett stated...."she is a singer's singer".
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did and do.
I couldn't believe my eyes/ears when Newton twice incorrectly said that Lang "performed the song at the Montreal 2010 Olympics"! Why he wasn't corrected, beats me. This man is way, way past his use-by date, and I really don't understand why we have to be continuously tormented by his face on our television screens!

The Olympics was where I first heard her sing the song and I fell in love with her version and that is why I now have it on my playlist on my blog. Her voice has a ringing clairity that most of us can only marvel at and enjoy. Peace
ReplyDeleteI saw her sing it at the Winter Olympics opening, too, Lady Di....but previous to that performance of hers, she was down here in Aus last year and performed "Hallelujah" live on a morning breakfast television show called "Sunrise".............I was just stunned by that performance, too.....tears just came to my eyes and I think I held my breath all the way through the song....she was outstanding, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI think she's wonderful as a person as well....down to earth....no bullshit.
Bert Newton was put out to pasture...but he keeps resurrecting!
ReplyDeleteI adore k d lang's voice...it's so velvety and as you say, she's a down to earth person...calls a spade a spade. I saw that Sunrise performance and like you, Lee, I was in tears with the beauty of it. Oh, to be blessed with such a voice...
Yeah, I know as far as Newton is concerned, Robyn....they need a sledge hammer, I think!!
ReplyDeleteDear Lee ~~ I agree k d Lang has a
ReplyDeletewonderful voice and like all the others I loved the "Hallelujah"
