The Gouldian Finch, also known as the Lady Gouldian Finch, Gould's Finch or the Rainbow Finch are unique to Australia.
may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old
may my mind stroll about hungry
and fearless and thirsty and supple
and even it it's sunday may i be wrong
for whenever men are right they are not young
and may myself do nothing usefully
and love yourself so more than truly
there's never been quite such a fool who could fail
pulling all the sky over him with one smile

What a lovely, vibrant painting! You never told us you were an artist!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Molly. :)
ReplyDeleteI just muck around a bit with paints and graphite drawing...I, by no means, describe myself as being an artist.
I've been pretty slack in that department of late; and I must pick up a few brushes again; dust them off and start splashing some acrylic paints around.
It's good for the mind and spirit!
You might not describe yourself as an artist - but I would. That is a stunning, vibrant, joyous painting. Get off your behind and get back into it. Please.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have always loved ee cummings.
Thanks, EC.
ReplyDeleteI was doing a spot of tidying, dusting etc., while looking for a book on meditation to give to a friend of mine and I came across three e.e. cummings books of poetry that have been hiding from view for a while!
What birds?
ReplyDeleteThe Little birds are darling and I embrace the poem. You are quite talented my Lady Lee. Peace
ReplyDeleteThose of the feathered variety as pictured, Jerry...as opposed to those in the poem by e.e. cummings...you know the ones...
ReplyDeleteThere are many varieties of finches in Australia, Lady Di. The ones pictured here are Gouldian finches...very colourful and very beautiful indeed.
ReplyDeleteThere are some little beauties amongst the Finch family of birds.
Thanks for your nice words. Take care. :)
always love poetry but that painting is 'the bees' knees' Lee. Get back to work, girlfriend!

I'm here clicking my heels and saluting, RDG! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment at Red Dirt Girl. I've pulled the post. Only for the reason that it was a very personal email I had sent to my Him. And Him, being very private, might find it a bit too exposing. Even though what I exposed was "All About Me" :)
You do understand the ways of a woman's heart and how we smile for the crowds even when our hearts are aching.
I, too, hope the days apart are drawing to a close. We are waiting for his visa to be approved by the US gov't. No way to know exactly how long that takes (for some as little as 4 months, for others - a couple of years!!)
Hence the waiting.

I noticed you'd pulled it, RDG. I was glad to have been able to read it before you did so, however. It was very personal, but it also said so much about your inner emotions...and somehow I didn't feel I was intruding. I've been there; perhaps not in the way you are at the moment, but I have been there. So I do understand. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, I do understand Him and his desire for privacy. :)
Let's hope things move quickly for you both.
