Promises....
I shall lavish you with jewels to match your sparkling eyes
Said he
I shall lavish you with jewels to match your sparkling eyes
Said he
I shall profess my love for you through
the waking hours
Said he
Said he
I shall walk beside you showering you with scented
flowers
Said he
Said he
I shall tenderly embrace you every
morning at sunrise
Said he
Said he
At each day's dawning I shall celebrate my love for you
Said she
I shall caress and bestow you with ardent
passionate kisses
Said she
Said she
Everlasting my love for you is a love so deep
nothing else eclipses
Said she
Said she
Around you my arms lovingly will enfold at every morning's debut
Said she
Said she
Together hand in hand we will run along the beach like carefree children
Said they
Said they
At night we shall name the evening stars encased in our love's delirium
Said they
Said they
Romantic love we will make in rain showers
shrouded by a grey atrium
Said they
Said they
Consumed by our passionate
desire as if by a sensual seductive siren
Said they
Said they
Your smile I adore, your inviting lips about you I will change nothing
Said he
Said he
I shall see life and beauty forever
through you awake and in dreams
Said she
Said she
I will love you forever for you I would
cross oceans fight raging streams
Said he
Said he
We shall spend timeless hours immersed
in our warm tender loving
Said they
Said they
Poem by Me.....
Beautiful, and i hope they grew old together in their love.
ReplyDeleteThank you, messymimi. Wonderful it would be, if that was the case with everyone. :)
DeleteIf only...
ReplyDeleteTo dream the impossible dream....
DeleteThanks for coming by, EC. :)
Nice, and the expected bitter twist did not come.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I'm a bitter person, Andrew...twisted at times, maybe, but not bitter! I'm a sucker for a happy ending and forever after. :)
DeleteThanks for coming by. :)
This is so sweet I can almost taste the sugar.
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for the line where they had their first disagreement..(*~*)
I see nothing wrong with "sweet". These days there is far too much sour around for my liking.
DeleteThanks for coming by, River. :)
young love always so optimistic and idealistic, sometimes life gets in the way, still it's nice to think back on such sweet memories of the past and remember to appreciate what I have now, lovely poem, thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Linda...It would be wonderful if love did remain optimistic and idealistic. It would be wonderful if we were able to remain so, too, as we tread Life's difficult path.
DeleteThanks for coming by. :)
I like the construction of this poem and the sense I get that such "promises" are fleeting - perhaps made to be broken in the end but hope and commitment are good things. Without hope we would never commit ourselves to others.
ReplyDeleteG'day, Yorkie. Many seem to be reading doom into my words. Pessimism was not - is not - my intention.
DeleteHope, love and commitment were. And, I agree, they are good things; I've never felt otherwise.
As strange as it may seem to some...to most, I guess...to those who know me not well...I am a romantic at heart...a softie at heart. Many things about living have tried their best to alter my way...but I am stronger than they!
Thanks for coming by. :)
Too perfect to be true but beautiful nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteHi, Delores....true....and then reality strikes with an almighty blow!
DeleteThanks for coming by. :)
Young love is marvelous and knows no bounds, long term love is more difficult.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Arleen...a feeling, if it lasted, would be wonderful...perhaps exhausting...but wonderful! I guess that is why we like romantic stories so much...well, some of us do! :)
DeleteThanks for coming by. :)
Beautiful, Lee.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandra...if only... :)
DeleteGreat poem that you wrote, I love the photos that you included as well. Really tie in your words. Thanks for the share, have a fantastic rest of your day. Keep up the posts
ReplyDeleteWorld of Animals
Thank you...I was feeling in a romantic mood. :)
DeleteYour talent abounds in every area! So proud to know you.
ReplyDeleteOh! Annie! That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a long, long time. Thank you very much. :)
DeleteAnd, my dear...I value your friendship. :)
That is one beautiful poem, Lee. Who knew you were such a romantic, lyrical being? If only all those feelings would last forever in every union of two beings. Thank you, my friend, for those uplifting thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Peace Thyme. I knew I was a romantic! lol
DeleteIt would be wonderful if those feelings lasted forever...sadly, Life, with all its nuances, interferes...not always in a good way.
Thanks for coming by. :)
I had no idea you were such a romantic soul, Lee. You capture the optimistic idealism of young love so beautifully. Why do I limit that to young love? No idea. I could blame Bing Crosby crooning "love is lovelier with both feet on the ground" (second time around). And I have no idea where the memory of that song came from either. Subliminal influences, I guess. I'll re-read your poem several more times and perhaps I can embed in my jaded spirit a more mystical or magical concept of love.
ReplyDeleteHey, there Pauline. It appears I have shocked many by opening up my romantic side. I hate to think I come across as being a Hard-Hearted Hannah! I definitely am not that! lol I've always been a softie...a romantic. :)
DeleteIt's easy to become jaded, however....if and when we allow the stupidity, the brainless behaviour of so many around us these days to smother our own better inner self. We must at all time remind our own self to be true to who we are...to how we feel. And being a romantic soul is not a bad thing. :)
Thanks for coming by. I really enjoyed reading your last couple of posts (that's not to say I don't enjoy all your posts. I am familiar with so many of the areas about which you write - and good memories are stirred). :)
I enjoyed your poem and the pictures too.
ReplyDeleteMy thanks.
All the best Jan
And my thanks back to you, Jan! :)
