Further to my previous Australia Day post below....

This beautiful song by The Seekers says it in a nutshell...a macadamia nut aka Queensland Nut shell.....
....

It's time for us to remember this...each and every one of us!  Cease the bickering...the hypocrisy. Spend our energy working together as one; not tearing each other apart. We are capable of doing the former.  The past few months have proven this to be so. Do we really need disasters like the devastating bushfires we've been experiencing to make us wake up to ourselves?

Australia Day...26th January....Monday, 27th Australia Day Public Day Holiday...Enjoy!

Nyunggai Warren Stephen Mundine AO born in Grafton, New South Wales in 1956... is an Australian Aboriginal leader and politician. 1. Thank you, DUTA. Australia is the Lucky Country...and we must never lose sight of that fact...even through the difficult times...the harsh times. And we must never forget our good friends throughout the rest of the world.

      I'm a proud Aussie! :)

      Thanks for coming by. :)

  2. Happy Australia Day to you and all Australians! The hearts of very many English people have been with you during these challenging weeks of fire. I have never heard that song before. It is uplifting and if I were an Australian I would sing it with pride. Nice to hear Judith Durham's fine voice once more.

    1. G'Day, Yorkie...thank you...We Aussies greatly appreciate...we give heartfelt thanks...for the kindness, and the generosity...shown during this most trying time. Our memories are long...we shan't forget...

I'm surprised to learn you've not heard that song by The Seekers before. It's a marvellous song. I love it. And, I always dig it out come Australia Day...I'm a creature of habit! :)

Judith Durham was a customer of mine a couple times when I had my little greengrocery-healthfood shop in Noosa Heads, on the Sunshine Coast...when Randall and I lived at Sunshine Beach and he worked in real estate.

Judith and her now late husband lived up in the hinterland area of the Sunshine Coast at that stage, back in the early to mid-80s.

She is a lovely, genuine human being - just as she appears to be on stage etc. There is no pretense about her. We even discussed the idea of them...The Seekers...putting together a concert in the Noosa area. That never did happen, but we did see them in an outdoor appearance/performance one Sunday at Maroochydore...another beach area, further south of Noosa Heads. And, naturally, they were wonderful. I still love The Seekers...as so many others still are.

Thanks for coming by...and your thoughtful comment. :)

  3. I sure do wish America would take this lesson to heart. To love one another. To stop fighting - we are almost in a civil war and the funny thing - is we have the best life ever.

    Prayers for both our countries.

  4. I hope you enjoyed Australia Day.
Without bickering or nastiness (though I don't know where the hypocsisy comes in) I would like to see the date changed to a day that we can all celebrate, a day which acknowledges the past and looks forward to a future working together.

    1. G'day, EC...I had a very lazy day...by choice...spent reading the paper, and watching the Austalian Open....just me and my two furry best mates.

Hypocrisy is all around, in every corner, unfortunately. Changing the date is not going to change anything...discord in one form or the other, from someone or the other, shall remain. I suppose the day could just be wiped out all together...thrown onto the barbie, and that might solve the "problem". Hang on! That wouldn't do it, either! :)

In the words of John Lydgate and Abraham Lincoln..."“You can please some of the people all of the time; you can please all of the people some of the tim;, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

This afternoon I'll be joining a few neighbours from this small enclave in celebration of Australia Day. Some of the folk I've not seen since last year's get-together.

      Thanks for coming by....

    2. It is very true that you can't please all of the people all of the time but I would like to see some compromise on this contentious date. There MUST be a day which is less contentious and as I said on Andrew's post Wattle Day strikes me as appropriate. There are wattles all over our land. And yes I do know that those who are allegic to wattle might object, but their numbers are small.

    3. It's the agitators who like to stir up trouble who have caused this problem, in my opinion...most of whom have had nothing, or very little whatsoever to do with Aborigines. Just more of the brain-washed, over-zealous Left-leaning uni students urged on by Left-leaning educators.

Anyway...I'm not going to get into an argument of words, EC. You have your opinion, as is your right...and I have mine...as is my right.

I sit on the Right...and you sit on the Left...and neither of us sit on the fence! :)

    1. Hey, Margaret...I did spend yeaterday very quietly...reading the Sunday paper and watching the tennis.

In a few minutes I'll be heading up to the end of this lane as the little neighbourhood annual Australia Day party is about to get under way.

It so humid...I feel as if I've just stepped out from under the shower! I won't be staying long...I want to be back home before the Nadal-Kyrgios match starts early evening.

I hope you enjoyed you Australia Day weekend, too. Thanks for coming by. :)

  7. Thank you for this. It IS way past time when bickering and hypocrisy should have already ceased. How hard is it to come together always, not just in times of disaster?

    1. Yes, River...I don't know what is wrong with people. At the gathering shared with the neighbouring folk in these two little lanes late this afternoon we discussed this very topic. No one seems to have the answers.

It's a sign of the times, I guess...and not a very good one. It certainly doesn't bode well, in my opinion.

      Thanks for coming by. :)

  8. I never comment on another country’s politics as I don’t live there or know how their government works for their citizens. I do hope that you had a fun time at the Australia Day party.

    1. Hey, Arleen...I think similarly to the way you do re commenting on the politics of other countries,

It was a pleasant little soiree...a nice group of people, most of whom I only see once a year! lol

      Thanks for coming by. :)

  9. I'm glad that you enjoyed the soirée. I've been playing the song since I started reading this and whilst having my dinner. I've just downloaded one of their albums. I've given up expecting the impossible: people getting on with each other. That way at least I can get on in my own little world doing my best to get on with people.

    1. Hi, Graham. It was an enjoyable interlude. Enough socialising for me for a while now...back to being a hermit...in my own little world, to echo your words! :)

The Seekers...such a wonderful group. Judith Durham's voice is magnificent. I've loved them since I first heard their music way when....they are much loved by most Aussies, I dare to guess.

      Thanks for coming by. :)

I raced home as soon as I could to get back to watching the Australian Open! :)
