This is a self-portrait…however, I didn't know it at the time when I did the drawing.
Lately without fail…except this morning, I must admit…I've been waking up a couple of minutes before 4 am. On the dot of 4, like clockwork, the kookaburras living hereabouts begin laughing. I think they must wear Rolex watches because they're always right on the dot of 4 am when they start chuckling. With the assistance of the kookas, I certainly do not need a cuckoo clock. (I’m cuckoo enough without one of those!)
What’s even more intriguing is I think I'm beginning to grow feathers because I wake the same time the kookaburras do.
If when you wave to me, I lift my wing in response and start laughing....I think it's the time to start worrying!
I very occasionally hear kookaburras here too but not that early in the morning and only for one or two days then they are gone again. Lovely drawing.
ReplyDeleteHi River...my kookas visit every afternoon, too...they get the meat scraps from when I've cut up Remy and Shama's dinner. They are lovely birds...I love them. There are a few suitable tall trees around here that obviously make safe, secure homes for them.
DeleteThanks for coming by...take care. :)
Beautiful drawing of the kookaburra bird! You've certainly got drawing talent, Lee.
ReplyDeleteThanks, DUTA... :)
Delete.Again, this morning, on the dot of 4 am...they didn't let me down!
Thanks for coming by...take care. :)
You are very talented. That's an amazing drawing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandra...take good care. :)
Deleteno worry here, many times I awake at 3:33 am, it's the twilight zone here, hope all is well with your
ReplyDeleteHi there, Linda...I think the older we get the earlier we wake! lol
DeleteTake care...thanks for coming by. :)
I don't know what happened to the comment I made yesterday. Love the drawing and wish I saw more kookaburras than I do. Sadly in some parts of Oz their numbers have declined dramatically.
ReplyDeleteFour o'clock? I wish Jazz and the wattle birds let me sleep that long.
Hi EC...Remy loves an early morning chat, too. Shama, not so much.
DeleteI love the kookaburras, and fortunately, there are quite a few up around here. Many tall trees with holes in their trunks, no doubt, make for good nesting for the kookas. They're a fabulous bird. They have their sentry posts, and keep a good eye on me and my movements!
Thanks for coming by...take care. :)
The birds do keep time, i'm not sure how but they are smart. It's not easy to go back to sleep once that dawn chorus starts in.
ReplyDeleteHi, messymimi. In retaliation, I'm considering setting up camp underneath their trees...and I'll start singing in the early hours of morning! :)
DeleteThanks for coming by..take care. :)
I am always thrilled and jealous of you artistic talent.
ReplyDeleteOh! That's nice of you to say, Annie. Thanks for coming by...take good care. :)
DeleteHappy Holidays, Kookaburra:)
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha! And a Merry Christmas to you, Sandra! I hope much laughter fills the air! :)
DeleteBeautiful drawing, Lee. I think the sound of birds is the best sound in the world to wake up to - but not at 4 am. The dawn they see must be on a far horizon.
ReplyDeleteG'day Pauline...They're probably relating to their feathered mates the dreams they've had during the night!
DeleteThanks for coming by...take care. :)
