And, of course, "Little Women"...all versions!
ReplyDeleteNo Tom Cruise?....(just kidding, I've read some of your comments about him)
ReplyDeleteWould Breaker Morant or Gallipoli make your list?
Glory tops my list. Almost all of these you mention would be on such a list, except Little Women. I can't imagine watching any version of that.
Romancing The Stone
Mars Attacks
Patton
Das Boot (with sub-titles)
Damn...I meant to add 'Das Boot'. I had it in mind and forget...that is a brilliant movie, gtotracker. Thanks for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteI like "Eyes Wide Shut"...but not for Cruise...for Kubrick's direction and the cinematology. Yes...you know my thoughts on Cruise! ;)
'Breaker Morant'...yes...good movie, as was 'Gallipoli'.
Well, then there's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Being There"....and "Big Lebowski", "Seabiscuit" and I really enjoy "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" but hate the ending! I like 'The Aviator', too...I've always been intrigued by Howard Hughes. And I believe DeCaprio is a great actor...he just should not have done "Titatanic" which really was a disaster to my way of thinking...he's picked a few wrong turns since "Gilbert Grape", but it appears he's back on track again. And that should have been "Finding Neverland" not just "Neverland" as I wrote.
ReplyDeleteAnd how could I forget "The Bridges of Madison County"...and "The Colour Purple"? Tsk! Tsk!
"The Notebook" and "Million-Dollar Baby"....shut me up now!!!!!!!!!!!
And for a great giggle..."Bandits"! Okay...I'm out!
I'm onboard w/ a bunch of those - not all, but gooood taste!!!
ReplyDeleteHi there Mike...welcome...glad you stopped by!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good movies...and as many bad movies!
Kurosawa movies?
ReplyDeleteYou picked about 10 of my favourites there Lee, and also my least favourite one, "last Tango In Paris".... HATED that movie.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched his movies, gto...I'm not into Japanese movies, to be honest.
ReplyDeleteAnother movie I think is great...a very black comedy...brilliantly filmed and acted..."The Cook,His Wife, The Thief and Her Lover"...just another to the growing list!
Hiya Peter...I love "Last Tango"...not a happy movie, I admit..quite depressing actually but Brando was excellent in it...his monologue over his dead wife was him at his most brilliant.
ReplyDeletegreat list -here are my 7 favourites movies
ReplyDeleteJesus of Montreal
Casablanca
The Maltese Falcon
The English Patient
Out of Africa
Whale Rider
The Piano
The list can go on and on, can't it, Lindsay...'The English Patient' unfortunately, didn't really grab me...maybe it was the mood I was in when I saw it.
ReplyDeleteGidday Lee, again,
ReplyDeleteJees, favourite movies. I shudder when I think to do my favourite list. How long is a piece of string??
You've got some beauties there and some stinkers (I'm not telling) but then again that's why all our tastes are so different. Makes for a more interesting world.
I agree what you said about
DeCaprio. I thought "Titantic" stank (sank) but he was excellent in "The Aviator" and when the DVD comes out on "The Departed" get it out as he does a great job. I've been debating about getting "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" as I liked this movie. Jeff Bridges is a underated actor.
I agree what you say about Jeff Bridges, Wazza...I've always liked him and will watch anything that he is in.
