And Another Uplifting Topic!

I read an interesting article in yesterday's 'Sunday Mail' which stated a third of Australian women are amongst the most vain in that they would undergo cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance despite believing society is far too obsessed with youth. Apparently after an 'in-depth' study across 41 countries, they found one in four Aussie men and women would consider going under the knife to improve their looks!

Well, I'm one of the two-thirds who would never consider 'going under the knife' or sticking a needle of botox into myself!

"I yam what I yam!" as Popeye said. Even though I run past mirror as I scare the living daylights out of myself when I catch my reflection, I don't think I'd like seeing a strange face looking back out at me! (Not, of course, if it was some tall, dark, handsome guy standing behind me!)

  1. Ugh yuk! Botox. I agree, Lee, who wants to have a toxin injected into their bodies? A few years ago, I was diagnosed as having gallstones and my GP at the time said, "Right! Up to see the surgeon."
"No way!" I replied, "I'm not at all keen to have someone at work with a knife on my unconscious body!" And that was that! Unless it's a life or death situation, I'm not letting anyone near me with a scalpel!

Funnily enough, I've had no problems with gallstones since. I think they were frightened away! Hehe!

  2. Same here, Robyn! I don't trust anyone to slice into me while I'm unconscious...or conscious, for that matter!

Yep...sounds like you dissolved those gallstones in fear!

Don't be like a neighbour of ours when I was growing up...I remember her telling my mother a story of someone she knew who grated whole nutmeg over a custard or something similar...only to find out later they were gallstones stored in the bottle, not whole nutmet! I never did find out if that was a true story or not, but it sure is a good one! Hehehehehehee! Yuck!
