A Sad And Worrying Day!

I was in despair for a few hours yesterday. My second-best friend fell ill! My heart was broken.

Without warning, Edgar up and got sick on me. I had to call the doctor, who promptly came and took him away.

Lost and alone, I wandered around not knowing what to do with myself. Life is not the same when Edgar is not around. It was like having my right arm removed. How could I face life without him a part of it? Edgar plays a huge role in my life. Without him, I don't know what I'd do.

Fortunately, the extremely efficient doctor returned a fit and well Edgar to me four hours later.

Edgar was just a little burned out. After having a new pace-maker fitted, Edgar is back as good as new, for now. With his new CPU fan fitted, he’s keeping his cool. I know his age is against him, but he has been a true, loyal friend who has taken everything I’ve given him with little complaint, even those times I’ve verbally abused him for being a bit slow. At least, I’ve never raised my hand to him, nor have I thrown anything at him.

Life is not the same when I'm without my computer. Edgar holds a special, important part in my life and in my heart.

  2. I guess I could call my new fridge "Frostie" , gto! Or perhaps, "Cold-Hearted Hannah"! ;)

  3. ROFL I was thinking the same thing gtotracker. Southerntragedy names some items that she holds dear to her. :) Lee now you need to put post -it notes on all your important items and take photos for us to know what to call them. :)) Cute story.

  4. Oh! I can't reveal all of them to you, Sandra! ;)

  5. You're just a softie at heart Lee, if Edgar plays up just remind him of all the great deals there are around on "NEW" computers, that should pull him into line.

  6. That is true, Peter...I can't and won't deny it...I am a big softie at heart. I'm the biggest sook of all! :)

  9. Poor Edgar. I'm glad the doc was able to patch him up. Hope he holds up well for many more years to come.

  10. My wife dubbed my computer 'Marilyn', because it was my mistress. I have progressed through a number of mistresses (calculating women?) since then. The present one is 'Carmen'.

  11. I have read your last two post's. I was afraid your brother was going to come in and do away with Edgar.

  12. By the look of your posts, Serena and Lee...I'm not the only crazy one here! ;)

And as for you, Cliff...what more can I say? You make me laugh! :)

  14. My computer is called Dottie after Dorothy Dunnett, my favourite author. Normally I don't go around naming things but it needed a name to differentiate it in the computer network in our house.

I'm glad that Edgar is well again but in my experience 5 years is the most you get out of a computer. Then it's time to upgrade because it's nice to have some of the advances every 5 years.

  19. Life without our computers is so not fun. I'm a mess when it isn't behaving itself. Hmmm, I don't have a name ... perhaps I should give it one !!
    Take care, Meow

  21. Hi Lee ~~ S glad to hear that Edgar
survived the treatment. We sure are
    lost without them, aren't we?
Mine has been playing up lately too, but I am not as faithful as you as I
have ordered a new laptop. So hope
it will be better. Take care, Lee,
    Love, Merle.

  23. My last computer's name was Big Foot. Big foot died last year and was replaced with Really Big Foot. It beats Marc's Computer for a name though.

  24. Very relieved to hear Edgar is all right, Lee. I was worried for you there a while!

  25. I hope it never happens that you put your big foot through Very Big Foot, Marc! ;)

I know, Welsh...he had me worried there for a while too...even though he was out of my life for about only four hours, it was long enough for me! ;)

  26. Gidday Lee,
I can relate to your nearly loss of "Edgar". Mine was still a babe, not twelve months old when it came down with a case of "I'm crook, I don't want to turn on".
Off to the computer doctor and it had to have a "heart" transplant.
They can be such contrary little buggers.

  27. Yes, but we do love them no matter what, Wazza. :)

  28. Gidday Lee,
I'm not sure about whether "we love 'em" as they can sure be "a pain in the arse" when waiting for sites to open or blogger to work properly.
'Tis a good idea to write in word then cut & paste. Peter told me to do this in my early days of posting and after I "lost" a few posts I learnt my lesson.

  29. I know, Wazza...I usually do write my posts in Word first and then copy and paste...but I was thinking I was taking a "short cut" because I was in a bit of a hurry that particular morning! lol
