REFLECTIONS AND CONSTANTS

Some people enter our lives and stay for the duration. Others stay long enough only for a brief moment before leaving. Albeit a short visit, some leave an indelible impression, others not. Some leave without hint nor warning. Some give a reason why. A few we willingly choose to walk away from without wasting a backward glance, feeling happiness or relief, sometimes both, that they are no longer a part of our lives.

Those who have helped forged loyal friendships and memories are dearly cherished. Anticipation for those yet to enter one's circle of existence is a part of life's wonderful mysteries. And it's a marvelous inevitability that this chain of new acquaintances will not be broken until the day we float off into the unknown blue yonder. (Well, in my and my readers' cases, anyway!)

The choices one makes of who enters, who remains, who is not welcome and who leaves one's circle of friends is purely up to one's self - to the individual. Isn't that a wonderful power to possess- particularly if recognised and utilised?

Last week, a family - an extended family came into my life unexpectedly - though it was from my own instigation. One thing is certain, they shall now be a part of who I am from this day forward, and I, a part of them.

You see, I found my long-lost, but always-known-about half-brother! I'm not an orphan after all!

However, I'm never alone, nor am I an orphan when I have my two furry rascals as pictured above by my side!

  1. How wonderful for you Lee. You must be over the moon. Still painting, still a cat lover.

  2. All of the above, jmb. :)

  3. That one cat doesn't look as excited as you must be to have found a lost relative. Maybe if your new-found half brother had a pet bird . . .

Glad all is well with you and your's.

  4. I am glad you have an extended family, if this is not enough I could loan you some of mine. Can I choose which one I send to you. You can keep them, drown them or shoot them to the moon and it is all YOUR CHOICE. lol
lOVE the pictures of your Furballs and the painting is very good. Nice to have you back in blogland. Peace

  5. Hi Dave, These two furry mates of mine can stay perfectly still for ages, that is, of course, until I want to take a photo of them! Then they are completely impossible - fidgeting around worse than an old codger! ;)

I know what you mean, Lady Di. All families are the same - there are some within the family perimeters that we'd rather do without. I'll do you a swap with a couple of those in my family tree if you like - or you can just have them for free! ;)

  6. Lee, it is sooo good to see you back. I have missed your wonderful posts.

Like you, I've been pretty slack these last few months, too. However, I'm now going to try and change that, starting with today. I actually wrote a proper post...two in fact, mine and Mitzi's.

I hope all is well in your world and congratulations on finding your lost family.

    Hugs

  7. From what I've just read on your blog, Robyn, you've been keeping yourself pretty busy - including your bank account! ;)

    Good to see you, too.

  8. Hi Lee ~~ gain, it's great to have you back. And I hope you really
enjoyed your roast pork dinner that
was cooking too slowly for you.
It has been a good weekend as my team
Carlton actually won and got into the final eight. Not that they will go much further, but we have had 3 awful years. Take care, Lee and enjoy your life. Love, Merle.

  12. Liz - Hi strange! Nice to see you again.

Yes, it's all very new this discovery. We hope to meet up in August.

  13. Lee, well done - very exciting for you. Do you mind my asking .. what is the relationship? Is he older or younger?

I believe too that people come into and go out of our lives for a reason. Not all of them, of course, but definitely some.

Good to see everybody here too..

    thanks
    Della

  14. Hi Della, he is younger - it is strange to have a "younger" brother when I was always so used to having an older brother. He is 5 years younger than I am. My brother passed away 10 years ago - I can't believe that a whole decade has flown by and it was always just him and me - so this is all a bit surreal at the moment. We intend meeting up in August - so it's going to be a talkfest for sure!

that reaaly gives credence to the adage: to everything there is a time.

The cats. Never feed them. It only encourages them to stay. :)

  19. Hi lee. What an exciting time for you, and congratulations on persevering with your enquiries. I gather your initiative would have entailed quite a lot of painstaking work undertaken by yourself ?
    Best wishes

  20. Thanks, Lindsay - it was more nerve-wracking than painstaking, I think - quite emotive and a questioning time, whether or not I really wanted to open Pandora's Box.

  22. Looks like Blogger is back.

So whatever happened with the new job Lee?? Sally is still looking...no real luck so far with the economy being weird and gas prices up.

Thanks for checking our site and commenting. We have been lazy and have not posted any more of the 500+ pictures we took. I know, slack, slack, slack.

    Our best,

    Marc and Sally

  23. Hi Lee, I am at Warrens... on the way back to Gympie after my long absence, will be good to get home.
Congrats on finding a brother, that must feel strange.

  24. I hope you two have been misbehaving yourselves, Peter! :)

Yes, it has been very strange to be honest with you. I've always been used to being the "little sister" - now, I'm the "older sisters"! That will take a bit of getting used to!
