  5. I love Zorba and the music. Used to play that tune on the guitar....but not very well, of course. What a lovely story. I am sure that you were and are a great friend to have. Even if it is only for a short time. I am equally sure that she thinks of you at times and the table dancing evening just as you recall that moment in time when a lady needed a friend.

    1. Hi Ms Thyme....Zorba's story and all that goes with it is just wonderful...from when I saw the movie when it was first released, I immediately fell in love with it, and the music. The book, the movie, the music is so very stirring...so many emotions are affected.

Thank you for coming by. Through life we do meet wonderful people...they are the ones who deserve being remembered. They bring joy into our lives and one can only hope one can reciprocate in kind. :)

  6. Actually looking at that in detail it looks like good exercise. Lots of different little movements that are quite hard to do well. Maybe I'll find a recording of Zorba and dance along!

    1. Grab hold of the soundtrack of the movie, Jenny...and other music by Mikis Theodorakis, if you can...it is all wonderful.

Theodorakis also wrote the soundtrack for the movie "Z" that starred Yves Montand....and both the movie and the soundtrack are brilliant. Worthy you trying to find copies of both.

      Thanks for coming by...twice... :)

  7. I do love that song and that dance, corny though they are. Of course they really do it in Greece, as I am sure you know, not just for tourists although I suppose a lot of it is these days....

    1. I don't find anything corner about Zorba's Dance or any of the soundtrack music from the movie. And after seeing the composer, Theodorakis live in concert...such a powerful presence....when he had his troupe perform that particular piece a hush fell over the auditorium...there was the man...the man who wrote the music...it was something else again. A moment that sent goosebumps up my spine at the time, and I still get tingles when I recall it.

      The whole concert was superb...extraordinary.

    2. I just posted another comment on the following post, which I thought was the one that had Zorba on it. (I know, this is getting complicated....) Well, I'm glad my memory didn't serve me false and I DID comment on this. I went on to look at more YOutube about zorba dancing etc. and it was so interesting. :)

  8. That must be thrilling to see that in person - especially with the composer right there! I've always loved seeing Anthony Quinn dance it in the film.

    1. Yes, Lynn...seeing the composer live was really something...and especially when he finally had his troupe of players play "Zorba's Dance". He left it to the very end of the concert...and everyone in the audience were hanging out to hear it...me included. It was a stunning concert.

      Thanks for coming by. :)
