SUNRISE...SUNSET...A DAY IN THE LIFE OF....

Sunrise through the Boab (Bottle) Trees
Sunset
Sunrise over the ocean
The valley, looking towards the west...just around the corner from where I live

Where do I begin to tell of its wondrous beauty

Miles of azure haze drift across languid valleys

Colour variations fluctuating changes in moods

As the sun performs its first tremulous gestures

Peeping over the horizon announcing a new day

A moment’s silence muffles the surging waves

As if in homage is to the arrival of the golden orb

Before it bursts into a symphony of powerful energy

The quiet farewell honours night’s serene mistress

Her silver sphere wafts silently her final dance

Gentle stirrings announce day's unique dawning

Morning's early peace so soon abruptly disrupts

Birds awaken their cries fill the air as life erupts

A new day dawns fresh exciting promises to explore

(Acrylic paintings (three) and poem by me aka Lee.  And the photo was taken one day by me as I drove along the plateau upon which I dwell)

  2. Your poem and paintings are a beautiful tribute to the grandeur found in Nature: sunrise, sunset,"languid valleys", "surging waves",birds' chirping. And the sun, of course, with its "powerful energy".

    1. Hi Andrew....Yes, the Boab aka Bottle Tree is a fascinating tree. A lot grew around the coal mining town of Glenden, a town I once lived and worked in. the tree was/is the town's emblem.

      Thanks for coming by. :)

    1. G'Day Sandra...the three paintings and the poem were done a few years ago. I re-worked the poem...tweaked it a little before posting it today.

Thanks for your kind comment. :)

  6. Oh my goodness those are some gorgeous photos - I loved them. Now you are going into fall? Here the people in the north are trying to go to spring and it is just not coming?

  10. Talented artist you are.
I really thought the last painting was a photo not a painting.
All of them are really nice and the words you wrote are lovely Lee.
    Well done.

    1. Margaret..the last one is a photo...it is a photo of the valley around the corner here from me...looking down towards Canungra and Beaudesert and beyond to the ranges.

As I commented in my note at the end of the post...the first three are acrylic paintings done by me...not the valley pic...only my finger clicked the camera button and it the camera did the rest. :)

Thanks for coming by...and for your nice comments. :)

  11. Nice words. Nicer if you enjoy poetry, which I don’t. I won’t knock it. There are finer wordsmiths than I who would love to liken it to a pint of best or watching us beat the Aussies. I’m not from Yorkshire so I can only wonder at that.

    1. We're all individuals, Terry...with individual likes and tastes; our own likes and dislikes - enjoying what suits us, and takes our fancy.

I don't expect everyone to like what I like...to have similar opinions to my own. I hope I don't come across as preaching or forcing my opinions on anyone...that is not my intention.

I write as "I" think about things...about life, as I see it; as it has treated me up to this point, as you yourself do. :)

Thanks for coming by. Take good care. :)

  13. Hey there, Kay. I just dabbled and played around for my own enjoyment. I've not done any painting or drawing for some time now...I've run out of room to hang or store them...so I gave up. :)

Thanks for you generous comments. :)

  14. Enjoyed seeing them all Lee, and I enjoyed your words too.
I know not all enjoy poetry but from a young age it's something I've always enjoyed reading.

    All the best Jan
