APROPOS TO MY PREVIOUS POST....

One of my all-time favourite songs...by one of my all-time favourite artists...the wonderful, unique...David Bowie.

This song seems very appropriate for the times in we find ourselves.....

    1. I agree with you, EC. I loved David Bowie...still do. I remember what time it was and what I was doing when I heard he had passed away. I cried.

Randall and I saw him live in concert, at what was then called "Lang Park"...in Brisbane. It was his "Serious Moonlight" tour in 1983. We were living at Sunshine Beach at the time....and drove to Brisbane to see him.

What a concert it was!!!!! He owned the stage...he owned the audience. I can still see him...and don't even need to close my eyes to do so.

During David's 1978 tour Down Under Randall and I were still living in Brisbane, in the suburb known then as "Torwood". High on a hill our house, a high-set Qeenslander, had views through to the high-rise city buildings. We sat in our sun-room that ran along the side of the house...and listened to Bowie's whole live concert, again, being performed in the valley below us a couple of kilometers away....The air was filled with his music.

      I turned this into a long-winded response, haven't I? Start me off on, Bowie...and I can't stop! :)

Take care...thanks for coming by. :)

  3. Amazing for there was a period of time that I didn't listen to a lot of music due to doing other things, David was in that period but of course I've heard of him.

    1. Hi Margaret...to me, Bowie will always be very special...see my above response to Elephant's Child.

The moment I saw him in the movie "The Man Who Fell to Earth"...I was under his spell....willingly.

Thanks for coming by...take care. :)

  4. I saw that same Live Aid crowd just last Sunday when I watched Bohemian Rhapsody again. I'd forgotten David Bowie was there too.

    1. Hi, River....I remember clearly the night...and early morning of the Live Aid concert. Randall and I sat glued to our TV throughout the night watching it...it was fantastic...We were living at Sunshine Beach at the time.

I've yet to see "Bohemian Rhapsody"...but I will, of that there is no doubt. I've always been a Queen fan...and always a Freddie fan. He sure did command the audience during the Live Aid Concert. The artists following he and Queen commented by saying...."That's done it! How can we follow that!!"....or words to that effect.

I responded at length to EC above about my love of David Bowie. He will always be a favourite of mine...a very clever man.

Thanks for coming by...take good care. :)

    1. Ahh...I've always loved Bowie, Andrew...and I always will.

I've got his last album (among all his others, of course)...the one he released about four days before he passed. As yet, I still can't bring myself to play it. I know playing it/listening to will upset me too much. That may sound strange...but that is how it is.

Take care...thanks for coming by. :)

  8. I adored David Bowie. And I agree, that song is so appropriate to the events unfolding around us now. If he were still here, I think David would be singing it for all these unsung heroes who are on the front lines every day.

We must be grateful...and express our gratitude in whatever we we can...to our present day heroes who are selflessly doing all they can at present for their fellow humans.
