A Poem For Today...

As the Gold Coast Lexmark Indy is playing in the background and I await the F1-11s to fly over (hopefully, they'll head back to Amberley over the mountain), I decided it was a good time to write a poem. It must be the roar of the motors and the throbbing power of the jets that are revving me up! The F1-11s were doing exercises when I was down in Ipswich on Wednesday. I adore them...they really make me excited and my adrenalin goes into over-drive! Go Team Australia!

With no further ado...here is today's offering....

Life's Moments Wasted

Along the way we all say words we soon regret
Have moments praying we could become invisible
Puerile silly misunderstandings over which we fret
Battered fragile emotions no longer concealable
Endless angry silences...their reasons we forget

Leading to games of cat and mouse hide and seek
Hearts minds held to ransom emotional blackmail
Hours pass slowly sad nights dim days then a week
Frail senses in disturbance as if buffeted by a gale
An eternity...time wasted over something so oblique

    Dear Lee,

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have just had an email from Suzie and she said Nikki is now awake and improving a lot faster than expected. They can operate on her face probably Tues or Wed rather than on the Fri as they thought. I have been so concerned. The crash happened on that blind corner of Mundoolin and Swan Rds, you may know it. Once you've committed to making the move, there's no way out!

I had to laugh about your advice regarding my tantrum throwing work colleague. I doubt very much if she would accept an invite from me. She'd be suspicious of my motives. Actually, in this case she'd be right!

But, it is getting close to my losing my cool. It takes a lot for that to happen and I don't like it when it does - it really affects me adversely. But I can feel it building up and she won't forget it in a hurry. I've only done this at work three times in my life, and the recipients and onlookers have never forgotten it. I'm not sure whether that is a good or a bad thing.

However, I shall keep you posted. I really look forward to your comments, Lee. Thank you.

PS: Lovely bit of rain, wasn't it? Hopefully some more tonight?

  3. I'm so glad for the news on Nikki..she must be a very healthy, strong, positive young lass. I can imagine your concern. It's a terrible thing to have happened...but that light at the end of the tunnel is shining brightly once more.

I know what you mean...'losing one's cool' does affect one...however, when pushed to the limit...sometimes there's only one way to go! ;) I know the few times I've gone off...they've been a bit like Mount Vesuvius erupting! Everyone around ran for miles to get away! ;) Sometimes, you're better to let 'fly' than store it up within! She may be used to getting away with her attitude and if you stand up to her, it might awaken her to her ways.

  4. We didn't get any rain here today...got a bit last night...anything is better than nothing. It's still missing the dams where it's needed. I guess Mr Beattie can keep building dams where it doesn't rain! ;)

  5. Hi Lee!

Thanks for the lovely and comical comments on my blog. I'm sorry it caused you so much frustration. I was gone all day yesterday and just checked in on the computer this morning. I have comment moderation on my posts because I was getting spam and rude comments that is predominantly why you didn't see your postings. Although, Blogspot was having problems too.

Your poetry is great. I hope you'll find a way to share your pictures too. I'll be around.

    Take Care

  6. Thanks, Robbie...glad you like the verses. I take it all my comments came at once...I realised after about the hundredth try that eventually they perhaps would appear! Nothing like being repetitive, I say...I say...helps get the point across! ;)

They might help seal your decision to do that road trip! :)
